Did you know that your brain is listening to everything you say to yourself?
Yes, everything you say. Not 50 or 80% — 100% of what you say is heard by your brain. Your subconscious mind works 24/7, 365 days a year until you die.
This is why it is so important to think, speak, and affirm things you want to happen and not focus on what you don’t want to happen.
Unfortunately people affirm negative things to themselves every single day….
- “I am so lazy.”
- “I am so slow.”
- “I am so unmotivated to go to work today.”
Even when you’re joking around or saying to friends your brain is listening. The only problem is that it doesn’t understand sarcasm. If you affirm the negative to yourself constantly it will take it as such.
The majority of people tend to focus on what they can’t do and settle for good.
Stop settling and replace can’t and good from your vocabulary.
When I hear someone say “I can’t” I usually ask them to clarify. You can’t do it or you simply don’t want to do it?
When you use the word can’t in your life you are affirming to yourself that you are already submitting to defeat without even trying.
Usually, people say they can’t do something because they are scared of failing. Fear of failure, fear of embarrassment or fear of loss.
But in reality you should say you can do anything until proven otherwise. While I’m not recommending you jump out of a plane without a parachute you need to develop the “I can” attitude. Cut the words “I can’t” from vocabulary.
Learn to Love Failing
One reason people say “I can’t” before even trying is because of fear of failure.
Failing has such a negative meaning but you should learn to fall in love with failing. The most successful people in the world failed more than most.
Thomas Edison failed 10,000 times before he made the light bulb work. Jack Canfield was rejected over 100 times trying to publish Chicken Soup for the Soul (the series has went on to sell over half a billion). Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team. Oprah was fired from her first TV job.
Don’t fear failure — embrace it as the opportunity to try something new until you succeed.
“If you want to grow and develop yourself, embrace failure. If you want to become the best at what you do, you’ve got to be willing to fail, again and again. And then finally, one day you fail your way to greatness.” — Les Brown
Every time you say the words “I can’t” catch yourself and think, how can I do whatever is you’re talking about.
Stop Being Good & Choose to Be Awesome
Question: “How’s it going”
Answer: “Good” — How 99% of the population will respond.
As Tony Robbins said in Awaken the Giant Within, “An effective selection of words to describe the experience of our lives can heighten our most empowering emotions. A poor selection fo words can devastate us just as surely and just as swiftly.
The words you choose on a consistent basis will determine how you feel and what you can experience.
Linguists have found that the average human uses between 2,000 and 10,000 different words in their lives. The problem is there at least half a million words in the world!
That means we only use 1 to 2 percent of the spoken language!
Most people experience the same thing every single day because they use the same vocabulary as well.
“If we want to change our lives and shape our destiny, we need to consciously select the words we’re going to use and we need to constantly strive to expand our level of choices. — Tony Robbins
Make it a point to never be “good” again. You can be…. Excellent, fantastic, dynamite, better than excellent, magical, vibrant, energetic, killer, phenomenal or stoked.
Yes, people will look at you weird because the majority of people are used to hearing good. Choose to be exuberant about how you are feeling and you will be in a better mood, attract happier people, and potentially change someone else's negative mood.
Eliminating these two words will change your life. Negative words can keep you from becoming the human you were created to be.
IT’S OKAY TO BE THE GREATEST YOU.
People will remember you in a positive, happy way. If they don’t they are people you don’t need to spend time with.
Your words will become your reality. Choose them wisely.
